In the party, every man with clean shaven beard was Piu’s favorite. His clean shaven look bowled her over. But, she was not happy with uncle chauffeur’s beard. So, she had decided inside her mind that she won’t go back home with this stubbly man. Rather, she would pick some clean stubble uncle to drop her home.

She wondered why were all the ladies even letting him sit beside them. He was the only person looked like chimpanzee amongst all humans. But, uncle was too over friendly with Piu because he thought he had made friends with Piu during the car driving process.

But he was wrong. Piu was always there standing behind uncle stubbly chauffeur.

Piu made funny faces to make sure that each pose he was giving while sitting amidst of those ladies, would go useless.

She wished if she had a mike, she could stand on the dining table and address all people about goodness of clean stubble. She would let all the men know that how superb it would feel to have a sparkling and hygienic face.

But, soon at the age of 5, this little kid had understood that being a celebrity and getting a stage to speak wasn’t that easy. So she better decided to dance and dine it. Obviously she was hoping to have a good chauffeur while driving back home.

Mommy somehow convinced stubborn princess to drive away with the guest chauffeur. Of course lady of the house was a little embarrassed with sharpness of her li’l daughter’s tongue. But the guest looked happy with innocent talking of little lady.

Somehow Piu was convinced to go along with Simi’s daddy, but she clearly declared that she was doing this against her will and just for her friendship with Simi.

Finally, the little lady and chauffeur were in the car. Driving insane of course, Why? Find out!

“Uncle, why don’t you cut your beard?”
“Ah, just like that”
“But, you should because I believe you would look nice if you chop it off”
Uncle was speechless but smiling inside.
“Do you have a girlfriend” Piu’s interrogation was still on
“No” Uncle Chauffeur replied
“See, it’s because of your stubble. Girls hate it man, even I hate that unclean stubble. GO get clean shaven and you will get a girlfriend for sure” Piu was confident.
“But I have a wife, how to deal with that” Said uncle chauffeur.
Piu winked at him naughtily and laughed hard. But inside, she wished some clean shaven gentleman would have come to pick her up. Phewww!

Piu was invited to Simi’s party. This obviously made her super excited but mommy denied. Reason was Dadda’s unavailability at home. Piu was angry, why mommy couldn’t let her go for party on her own. May be Piu thought that she was grown up enough to draw her mini bicycle and attend the party. But, Mommy didn’t of course!

But, Simi’s mom solved the problem. She called up Piu's mom and told her that she would send Simi’s uncle to pick Piu up. So, Mom was convinced finally, though half-heartedly.

Piu was all set, ready in her sparkling outfit. She was desperately waiting for the doorbell to ring, so that she could sit at the backseat of car and make a superb entry in the party. Ah! Celeb kids these days.

As the bell rang and mommy opened the door, Piu’s eyes left wide open.

“Ma’am I am Simi’s uncle, I am here to pick Piu for party!” He said

“Yeah sure, but make sure she’s dropped back home on time and….”

Before Mommy could speak anything, Little Piu shouted, “I hate that unclean stubble Mommy, I ain’t going with this man!”

The guest couldn't help but laughed scratching his own beard...He obviously wanted to drive his cute guest to the party for sure.

We Vote with We Chat: Indian General Elections 2014 with social mobile apps

The good thing about being gen next individual is that you feel excellent when you are asked to make a difference using your smartphone! I mean Come On! Every one of us will confess that we don’t even go to toilet without carrying our smartphone along! Phewww!

So I need not to explain that how much beholden I feel towards #Wechat for bringing this opportunity up, where I can actually play a contest using a smartphone app! Wuhu! It’s easy, but why should I talk about elections.

Elections quite boring! Yawwwn Yawwwn! Couldn’t you guys bring up something interesting? Well, let me tell ya, no one is gonna be interesting in election kinda stuff dude!

Wait! What did you just say… That’s the challenge! Oh, so if I really find out that how can I use this amazing #Wechat app to encourage people for using their voting right, you guys might just send some goodies for me.. Woaah! I am on it!

But Hey! I have never really been an election person. In fact I am not interested in politics! So I am not inspired enough. Ok let me look for inspiration…

Looking, finding, searching
Ok.. See I got this incidence and it inspires me a lot…

***The Inspiring Story***

I was born and everything around sounded alright. I didn’t know where I belong, what was my territory. I was just a breathing structure made of flesh and bones, claimed by a beautiful couple as their daughter. All I knew was dependency for everything except sleeping and dreaming.

[Ok.. Ok I am cutting it short here… Fast forwarding]

My father told me that I was an Indian because my hometown was located somewhere in Rajasthan, a state located in the north-west of India. Yes, India was my acknowledgment!

As my father’s lectures about my country increased, I started falling in love with it. I learnt different things about my country, its Unity in Diversity theory, respect for all religions, which reflected only in India and much more.

But, what bellowed beneath my baby skin was when I came to know that the country I am born in, the country I live in and the country that is my identity was ruled by outsiders for centuries. The pain that British rule brought to my country could reflect clearly through my granny’s stories!

I would be afraid and disturbed of all these historical details. So one day I rushed to my father, in search of a solution of course. I asked him straight forward...

“Dadda, what if British people are here again to rule over us?”
“No they won’t; they can’t” Dad replied with ease!
“But they did for more than 250 years!” I was still worried.
“Because India is a democratic nation my love. Forget British people, No one can ever dare to rule us, because in democracy, we the common people rule ourselves!”
“How?” My curiosity escalated.
“Democracy gives us freedom to choose our public representative through our votes and get a perfect system functioning for us, for our country and for our countrymen” He explained with a smile.
“Wow”
“Voting is our biggest right and duty, we should never overlook it” Dad added.

That was the day when I was just 5 years old, but understood the meaning and significance of VOTING.

[Oops! I know, I am too bad at cutting stories short! Bear with me]

***The Inspiring Story Ends Here..But Inspiration Continues, Ofcourse!***

SO now that I am inspired….And I feel that people are least interesting in voting. People are too annoyed with the system that they don’t want to show any interest in doing anything for the system and politics. This rage has made them forget that their power of voting, but if we get united, it can change the entire face of politics and a healthy democracy can be established.

The potential in modern generation is enormous. Each one of us just needs to put it in right direction and miracles will happen. So let’s use #Wechat to invoke the miracle!

Using all features for motivating people to vote!

Group Chat- How about playing a poetry game

Ok, we talk about almost anything through #wechat. We gossip about the most irritating girl around and most handsome boy in the office. SO why not just talk about voting and our right…Alright, you might find it boring at first, but we all have got creative brains and we can make it interesting.

See arrange a #WeChat voting Mushaira… Playing a rhyme game with friends that inspires voting would be awesome. And the poems can be something like this:

Friend A-Hey dudes, are you guys gonna vote!
Friend B-No dude for voting m too hot
Friend C-Our country’s politics is like a sinking boat
Friend A-but we could save it, through the voting power we’ve got
Friend E-See dude if we don’t vote, our country’s gonna rot
Friend B-And bad people will consider each one of us a scape goat
Friend A-So let’s give it another thought
Friend ABCDE-Let’s Vote…Let’s vote!

Video Chat- The perfect reply for Aur Batao

When you get to video chat for free, you surely want to talk for longer, but at the same time, you don’t have anything to talk… So what remains with you is.. A silly smile on your face and one very common (ghisa-pita) dialogue

“Aur Batao-What else”

So why not just replace it with-“Hey are you voting? You should dude.. I am using my vote right for sure”

Voice Chat- A quick reminder will do

Leave an awesome reminder for all your friends using voice chat option. This will remind them that they have to vote and use their strongest right to let the nation live for longer.

Bottle- This one will also help!

For once, you can use this option to remind people that one shouldn’t vote to those, who offer you bottle! Rather the leaders will be chosen on the basis of their ability!

[Ok, I just tried to think out of box… what you didn’t like it..Aha! Never mind]

Moment- The Show Off method

Listen, its easy to inspire others through show off. When we can flaunt our new haircut, new nail-polish, new look, new boyfriend or anything, then why not our voting entho? Just post your VOTED pic and see how much people will be interested in it.

Live Chat- Wuhu! You should use it, quite often!

This awesome app lets you talk as much as you can. So go ahead and sing your latest composition to your friends, bitch about the girl you hate, discuss things about family matters and much more. But, when you talk all this, then why not just take out few minutes and talk about voting and about the people who gave away their lives to save this nation. Just think of those people and for the sake of their martyrdom!

Now, we live in a nation, where we are free to move in any manner, free to use any mobile app we want to, free to dance, free to sing, free to go wherever we want to and free to do breathe in fact. Interestingly, WE’VE GOT FREEDOME TO VOTE!

Emoticons: Do I need to say that amazing emoticons will help to boost up the conversations and add some life to it!

But a freedom is only meaningful if we know how to best use each bit of it. We are free to vote that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t vote. It means, we must vote using the right to choose our favorite candidate with free mind.

What... So, you're still thinking.. WHY TO VOTE? Wait!

Take this...

Or May be this

But, you should also know...

So, better us your brain and #Wechat to do something incredible!

So get you guns loaded and ask people to vote #VoteForIndia

Kiss of Divine: Good..Better..Best

Let's look back to the days of divine
One kiss exchanged, I was yours & you were mine

Remember the day, when I was scared
You came closer gently and finally dared
It was that one little kiss and amorous cuddle
Powerful enough to let us get along and huddle

That’s where our love’s tiny saga arose
Waves blew soothingly, time froze

With every blissful kiss we shared
Your warm breaths conveyed how much you cared
Our lips snared madly, living that moment and forgetting the rest
WITH EVERY Tremble -Moan-Gasp it would turn Good-Better-Best

Brushing aside the truth that love calls for pain
Aroused with its charm, we drank each drop of the rain

That delightful submission of my soul was eternal
The pain to fall apart gradually was even infernal
Against time, when our dreams were ensnared
We suffered the burning hell but the hopes were flared

These kisses will last, even if we do not
Similar as moments pass by and memories are caught

“Piu, your tongue is twisting too much these days” Mom was angry
“What did I do know” Piu asked innocently sipping her morning milk (eyuuuuk)
“Why did u lectured Sam bhaiya about that entire matrimony episode?”
“Because he was finding fault in that lady despite of his stinky beard” Piu was quite clear and confident about her point.
“Well honey, you never know you might get married to stubbly man one day” Mommy winked
Piu was silent, but Mom could notice a bouncy storm floating behind her still big eyes.

Piu walked back in her room, juggling with the horrible thoughts of having a stubbly husband. After giving thousand thoughts to this matter, this little lady decided to run away from her home and find out the man whom she’s gonna marry in future. She would make sure that she picks a man who is clean shaven ofcourse.

Packing her frocks, shoes and doll in her tiny bag, she walks straight to the pond nearby. She always considered this pond few miles away from her home as ‘Away from home’ spot.

Sitting calmly across the shore, she kept herself busy with thoughts. She didn’t bother throwing pebbles in the water.

“I am going to find that prince charming thing out and tell him that see I hate that unclean stubble. If he will understand it, he will better get a chance to marry me” Piu uttered the uncontrollable urge cutely.

“Well, my little princess is planning to get married?”  Dadda’s voice interrupted.

“Dadda?” Piu was pleasantly surprised to see Dad standing behind her.

“Let’s go home”

“Dadda, I am not coming home until you promise that you’re gonna find a clean shaven groom for me”

Did Daddy had any other choice except laughing out loud?

Parenting Desires: 5 Special Gifts for my Childern

Grown up and aced, healthy and placed, finally I am Daddy’s big girl. Mommy is so proud of my achievements as an individual and brother thinks that there’s a long way to go. I am my father’s dream, my mother’s hope and my brother’s chum.

I have been given the best life till date and I am fortunate enough to be amongst those Indian girls, who are treated equal to men in their families and society.

I was born strong and brought up even stronger. My parents gave me the best of upbringing and this reflects in each step that I take forward towards accomplishment of my dreams.

So, sometimes I sit back and think that how I am going to manage my future life, new relationships and above all, my kids. Yes, I will have kids like I used to be years ago (and still am). But, things were easy when I was a kid, now things are different, tough and life’s even more challenging.

But, generally I sideline these thoughts, considering that there’s still time for all these responsibilities. I still have some time to tie a knot with my soul mate and have kids. BUT…WHAT PLANNING EXACTLY MEANS, Doing it in Advance! There’s no use of digging the well when the house is on fire already.

So, thank you HDFC for letting me think my future in advance and planning for it. No more escape, now I am going to finally decide some significant gifts I wish to give to my child.

Children are educated by what the grown-up is and not by his talk.
Carl Jung

Phew! This quote certainly makes me think that parenting is the most challenging task. Being a parent I would have to watch my each step to ensure that my children grow their mind healthily and learn & adapt only good things from me.

Gift#1-Upbringing (Sanskar)

The biggest gift a parent could give to his/her child is-Balanced Upbringing and good sanskar. Whenever I think of bringing up a child, Abraham Lincon’s speech, “How to raise my child” echoes in the back of my head.

I certainly need to make sure that my child gets the best if upbringing, where he/she learns the importance of good health, rational behavior, playing his/her heart out, fighting for what is wrong and standing strong for what is right.

I will make sure that while growing stronger with technology, my child always knows that there’s a thing called outdoor games and looking at the sky or rain falling with no purpose could be amongst most beautiful moments of life.

Gift#2-Courage to Make Mistakes & Sincerity to learn from them

If I say I will make sure that my children make NO MISTAKES, then it would be too unrealistic. Humans cannot imagine living a life without making mistakes. So, I would rather strengthen my brain enough to stand at a level, where I could gift my children the COURAGE to MAKE MISTAKES.

But, I will have to make sure that at the same time, they are SINCERE enough to LEARN from their MISTAKES.

Gift#3-Bicycle & Books

“We learn from failure, not from success!”
Bram Stoker, Dracula

I would want my children to relish the luxury of BMW or even expensive cars/bikes. But, I would want them to enjoy the wonders of cycling. Nothing could beat the moment when you first learn to paddle your bicycle. Its exciting to see your feet doing wonder and making you feel like flying.

I would make sure that my children feel that bliss of being able to make the air sing through their ears while they paddle the bicycle. I would make sure that they learn the biggest lesson of life while cycling, which is-Falling down doesn’t mean that you can’t get up and start all over again! There’s always a second chance to get up and start again.

“The love of learning, the sequestered nooks, And all the sweet serenity of books”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Books invoke imagination. Such imagination, which no graphics, animations or moving images could bring. So, I would introduce my kids to the wonder of books and would pray that they carry the magic of books to their next generation.

SO, gifting them bicycle and books is my heart’s core desire.

Gift#4-Time

“Always kiss your children goodnight, even if they're already asleep.”
H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Like any other parent, I would want to earn a luxurious future for my kids. For that I would need money and to earn money I would require spending hours chasing my targets at workplace. But, I promise to steal time from anywhere and put it in pockets of my children. No matter I steal this time from my sweet morning sleep or replace my back home lazy walk to high speed racing… I promise to do it.

I am sure my children would be able enough to earn millions times more than the pocket money I might afford for them. But, I am sure my Goodmorning hugs and goodnight kisses for them would always be priceless.

Whether it is about going out for picnic, juggling with their homework and assignment, working with their school projects, accompanying them for parents-teacher meets, cooking for them, playing in the backyard or anything they would want me to do, I will make sure I will always be there.

Gift#5-Insured life

There were days, when insurance was only seen as shield, which would protect you against taxes.

My father would tell me that he is doing great task by investing in life insurance. He always suggested me to invest in insurance and not consider it as a burden. Now, when he looks at wonderful children insurance plans, pension insurance plans and health insurance plans or insurance about almost anything, he feels great about his visionary attitude towards investing in insurance policies.

He has always suggested me to plan my children’s future smartly and give them an insured life. So, I will undoubtedly take my Dad’s suggestion and make sure that I pick the best insurance policy for my kids, so that they could have an insured and secured future.

Life’s full of uncertainties and being a parent; it’s my duty to minimize these qualms. And, I am sure the better and refined child insurance plans available around will help me to do it.

“I am going to reject that girl. She wasn’t pretty at all” Said Sam, Piu’s cousin brother. Piu’s aunty was concerned to know that what was the matter while little Piu was busy waving the trees moving along the road. (She strongly believed that the car she was sitting in was moving forward and trees along with the road were moving backward).

“But I found that girl quite simple and natural beauty? What’s the matter with you? Do you want to marry someone else? Tell me frankly” That was Sam’s paranoid mother talking.

“Mother, didn’t you see her face, she didn’t even have eyebrows done neatly? She has no style no class and I cannot marry someone, who couldn’t even get her eyebrows clean, especially when a guy is coming to see her for wedding matter” replied annoyed Sam.

“But do you understand how hard it would get for us to say NO to that girl, her father has been very good to us” cried aunty.

“Don’t worry Badi Maa (Aunty), that lady is going to say No to Sam Bro” interrupted Li’l Piu. Everyone, who thought she wasn’t listening to the conversation inside the car, had their illusion broken!

“How??” Asked curious Sam.

“Have you seen your face, stubble and scary! I am sorry but I hate that unclean stubble. And when I hate it imagine how much grown up ladies would dislike it”

“Oh please, I look so stunning and matured in this beard”

“Oh yes, you want a girl to get her eyebrow hair plucked with thread but can’t chop off your bush painlessly?” Piu yelled.

“Mom, she’s going to be a politician or leader for sure!”  Sam was laughing.
“Don’t worry Sam, the lady’s going to reject you for sure” Aunty joined the laughter.

Early morning when Mom and Dad tiptoed towards the X-Mas tree to leave gifts for Piu, they were shocked to see the gift wrap and a tiny letter. It read.

Dear Santa,

You have been nice and sweet all these years. You bring special gifts for me and leave them under this tree or hang there around it before I wake up. You are so smart and I know I can’t get a chance to meet you in person. So, I am leaving this letter and gift for you.

I know you have a rich collection of gifts but still I think you deserve a gift from me. Here’s shave gel and razor, exclusively for you. I bought it only for you and Dad helped me in shopping. Though Dad must be thinking that I bought this for him because he is only man in house, who can grow beard! But you don’t worry I will manage and make him understand that you need this razor more than he does. After all, your beard is longer and older than his.

Anyways, don’t think that I am giving this gift to you because you can’t afford it. Well you can! But, its just a good gesture to give return gifts. And, I also want to tell you that I hate that unclean stubble, so it would be great if you could distribute gifts clean shaven this X-mas season.

PS: If there’s any spelling mistake or typo then Uncle Sid is solely responsible for that. I have just spoken my heart and he is the one to write this letter for me. I have hired him after all I am just 4. Have you ever seen a 4 year old kid writing a letter herself?

Dad was smiling continuously while he returned from X-mas shopping with his little daughter Piu. Mommy couldn’t keep herself from asking, “What’s the matter smarty? Did your daughter launch some special missile on you?”

“How do you know that wify?”
“Its obvious love, now tell me?”
“Actually, our little princess has bought special X-mas gift for me…and you won’t believe what it is”
“Really! What’s that?”
“A Gillette razor and Gillette shave gel” Daddy winked at her wife
“What…!” Mommy’s mouth fell open in surprise.
“Yes, and today I released she’s turning cutely stubborn”
“But why razor and shave gel?” Mummy asked.
“Yes I asked her the same and you would wonder what she replied in return”
Mom was eager to know what exactly her little wonder said and to soothe her curiosity, Daddy narrated to whole story.

Piu started commanding me to head towards men’s section and she wanted to buy something there.

“But baby girl, men’s section?” I asked
“Yes because someone gave me gifts every x-mas and I believe ‘that someone’ should get one this time” she replied cutely and I couldn’t resist.
Then she picked up the box of Gillette shave gel and razor and walked to the counter to get it gift packed.
“But why this honey, I have this at home already” I protested.
“Dadda, I know but the person I am gifting this to MUST KNOW that I hate that unclean stubble and this gift will remind him the same, always!”
I had no option but obeying. I was amazed to notice how beautifully she was trying to keep this gift a surprise for me. She was trying to play smart as if I didn’t know that I was the only man in house to use that shaving stuff.

Mommy & Daddy smiled.

Piu was famous for behaving like a kitten early in the morning while she woke up. Cuddling Mommy endlessly, rolling in her lap and then talking about her last night dream in frisky-husky voice.

“Mommy, do you know I fell in time machine last night” murmured little Piu.

“Really!” Ah! These tech-savvy kids, wondered Mommy.

“Yes and it took me to my future” she continued

“Oh princess, what did you see there?”

“Whatever I saw, it doesn’t matter. I just want to make an official announcement that I ain’t gonna marry a man with stubble… Even if he loves me more than Daddy Loves You”

“Oh God this kid is turning dangerous day by day” Mommy thought to herself, but couldn’t gather courage to speak it out.

But Piu continued, “I met this guy in my future, who claimed to be my lover. But I said no, straight away!”
Gosh! Mom was breathless to see little wonder talking like a matured lady.

“But he was on his knees, not ready to give up. He said he could do anything for me”

“Really” Mommy was feeling the butterflies in her stomach.

“Yes, then I asked him to get clean shaven, but he denied.” Piu was narration the whole dream sequence in such a magical way that it appeared real.

“Why honey!”

“It’s a suspense…have patience till the end. I clearly stated that I hate that unclean stubble and he had to remove it”

“Awww.. then”

“You won’t believe Mommy, beneath that bushy and dirty beard, he hid a wrinkled face. Now I understood, male grow their beard to hide their wrinkles. So, I ain’t gonna marry any stubbly man!” Piu switched her tone smoothly from surprised to authoritative.

Mommy had no choice but laughing hard until it started hurting her belly.

Days with Poona-My First Ever Friend

Childhood memories are countless. But, whenever it comes to friendship one name effortlessly pops up in my mind-Poona, my short-term neighbor, who walked into my town with her parents. Her parents belonged to Barmer (Rajasthan) and they would come in the season of crop cutting in search of work. They would stay at the junkyard of big landowners until the crop season was finished.

Poona was their only child. Pale skin, black eyes and long brown hair. She had sharp nose, pierced neatly with a thin silver wire. She looked cute but was very shy. She didn’t play with anyone around. She would sit outside her little temporary hut and look at the kids playing outside. Her innocence often struck me. I was 7 years old, smart enough to know the meaning of friends. Till that date, I had made friends without asking them for their friendship. But she was special. To bring her out of her shy zone, I had to extend my hand for friendship.

“Will you be my friend?” I asked her, smiling.
She blushed and smiled back, extending her hand to say yes!

So that was it. The first lesson I learnt in my life about friendship was that it was easy to make friends.

Me and Poona relished each moment of our friendship. Singing filmy songs out loud, dressing up like queens, using my mom’s dupattas to drape sarees and dancing all day long. We would often steal my mom’s face compact to touch up our faces and look like actresses.

Days passed, my summer holidays were over and I had to go to school. I wanted Poona to attend school with me. I insisted my dad to convince my principal to allow Poona sit with me in my class. And, I insisted my mom to convince her parents to let her go with me.

Principal agreed but Poona’s family didn’t. They had to leave in next 3 days and Poona was obviously traveling back with them. I requested them to let Poona live with us. I promised I would take care of her like my soul-sister. But they didn’t agree. I hated it and this made me cry.

Dad couldn’t see me crying, so her convinced Poona’s parents to let her go to school with me for these 3 days. I was happier and she was the happiest now. We walked to school hand in hand, sat next to each other in the classroom, I taught her to write her name in Hindi and English. We would play Aam-churi during the lunch time, after finishing our lunchbox of course.

Those three days were the best days of my life. But, they passed very soon. Poona waved me goodbye, to never return again. I missed her for months. I would imagine that one day she would come back and we will play together. But the day never came. Though, with time, I forgot to miss her.

I grew up and went to hostel for my further studies. Lately, when I was back home for vacations, I saw a familiar face sitting with my father, talking to him. It was Lal Jee, yes Poona’s father.

A forgotten friend’s memory shivered through my heart. I rushed to Lal Jee uncle and asked “How are you uncle, how’s Poona, where is she?”

“She is married now Bitia (daughter) has 3 little daughters. She has sent a letter for you and she also wanted your photo.”

I was thrilled to see a little piece of letter, written by Poona. It read-
“Tumhari bahut yaad ati hai Piu, tumhari dost Poona”
[Translation: I miss you a lot Piu, Your friend Poona]

Wow, her smiling face appeared in front of my eyes. She had learnt to read and write the biggest gift she could ever give to me. I was in tears.

I handed over the only photograph of her I had, in which we both were going to school. The only memory that I had of her. But I believed she deserved it more than me.

But, I couldn’t write anything in response to her the most beautiful letter for me.

I would like to thank Dove Contest for letting me relish the wonderful memories I had with my best friend.
